Lindy Hop Library
Graeme & Ann, two of the UK's top international
Lindy Hop teachers and former U.K. Lindy Hop
champions, introduce you to the Lindy Hop Library.
These three discs are probably the most
comprehensive and complete introduction to Lindy
Hop. Covering all the basic shapes, rhythms and
timings as well as all the classic Lindy Hop moves,
such as Lindy turn, Circle, Back Charleston,
Swingouts etc., these discs will form an essential
part of your collection. Each disc is in three
separate sections and lasts between 50 and 60
minutes.
Lindy Hop, the ultimate swing dance, was born in
Harlem - New York in the late 20's
and grew up to become America's national dance
throughout the 30's and 40's. As the Jazz Age
evolved into the Swing Era, and the music changed,
so the dance evolved, the Charleston merging with
black African rhythms that suited the music.
This fusion of cultures created the unique dance
style we know as Lindy Hop. Lindy
was the first dance to use breakaways, as well as
introducing the world to air steps.
Using both 6 and 8 count patterns, Lindy Hop can be
danced to any speed of music
from slow at around 130 bpm to over 200 bpm .
